Does an certain version of Comedi require specific Linux kernel? can I build
a new version of Comedi under an old Linux Kernel? Thanks in advance.

I have a new PCI-MIO-16E-4 card which requires calibration. I ran the
comedi_calibrate program and the voltages recorded by the card were much
improved. However there is still an offset of -0.04 to + 0.02 V ( input
voltage source less comedi voltage) for one range I will use (-10 V to +10
V).
For the other range (0 to 10 V) there is an offset of 0 to -0.04 V. I have
also noticed that the card seems to require re-calibration every time the PC
is switched on. Is this normal?
I attach the output of the calibration program.
If anyone has ideas on how I can improve on this I would really appreciate
hearing from them.
Thank you
June

Because the 8255 is not capable of streaming input or output.

The current recommended practice is to copy the headers into your
project. Or, if you want to follow the future RTAI practice,
put them in /usr/realtime/include and use -I/usr/realtime/include.

Adding PCMCIA support to an existing driver isn't very complicated,
however, I think the existing Linux PCMCIA interface is about 5
times more complicated than it needs to be. So it's a bit difficult
to understand until you realize "Oh, I need to do _that_, too."

one?.
You can look at etc/pcmcia/comedi.conf in Comedilib. It's easier
than wading through devices.txt, which still does not have bus
information.

No, you find it in the output of 'lspci':
02:07.0 Class ff00: National Instruments: Unknown device 18b0
^^^^
There is a vendor code, too, but lspci already converted it to
"National Instruments".
The numbers at the beginning are bus and slot numbers, although
this is unimportant unless you have multiple boards that use the
same driver, and you want to make sure that /dev/comedi0 always
gets associated with the correct board.

This is done in CVS.

Heh. I'm very lazy, aren't I. =)

Cool.

I would like to have a decent framework for this kind of stuff
before moving forward. Also, menuconfig would be nice, since
that's what I use. =)

Yes.

cvs diff -u is best.

No, it's at cvs.comedi.org.

I was told that in order to use comedi with RTAI, I need to use the
RTHAL patch-2.2.14rthal1. But where shall I put this file?

I'm sorry, it's the first time that I use the comedi drivers.
I don't understand you, how can I configure my board for that the port A and
the port B is used as output and port C divide in input and output, and
write/read in the ports?, if I can't use the commands.
Thanks.

You might want to read the installation instructions in the
RTAI source distribution.
