Example select.c

Hi to all.

I have observed the example select.c uses the function select(). What does select() do really?

I´m doing a program does continuos adquisition and i not know if it´s better use select or not.

In other hand, i have checked the streaming buffer sizes 16 Kbytes however where comes the data copied to streaming buffer from, DMA or fifo? How can i know if my board uses DMA or FIFO device? i´m very confused about this question and i don´t know how many buffer are used from the A/D samples the data until the data is read to the buffer of my program.

My last quiestion is What does the function comedi_poll() do?
