This is probably completely wrong; I use Comedi a little but am basically a lurker here. Nevertheless: the latest Linux Journal's cover story is about the use of Linux at Industrial Light and Magic. Apparently the Mesa OpenGL libraries gave them problems, and they replaced them with the version available as open source from SGI, which helped. They feel that some of the problems they'd wrongly attributed to Linux and/or the NVidia drivers were actually due to Mesa OpenGL. Details on page 34 of the July 2002 Linux Journal or (probably) at www.linuxjournal.com.
