File access from Kernel Code

Hello,

I want to access a file on the hard disk with firmware from driver code, in 
order to load it into a device during device initialization. I don't know how 
to establish a connection to the file and read from it. A look into the 
kernel documentation didn't help me. Does someone know where to get 
information about or has someone the solution ?
