I'm just a volunteer contributor like everybody else :-) But we do have some money on projects that would like to see some standardization... What we probably will do anyway is to make a CORBA layer around DAQ (and some other) interface cards. And making such a CORBA layer is about the same thing as writing a standard for the API: it's all about the API interface.
