I know what ssh is.  I said to use pserver for anonymous access, as the 
instructions indicate:

cvs -d :pserver:anonymous_at_cvs.comedi.org:/var/cvs login
  (password is blank)
cvs -d :pserver:anonymous_at_cvs.comedi.org:/var/cvs co comedi
