Okay, I've crashed the machine enough to confirm that every time my crash happens the kernel is in the middle of scsi_io_completion(), called as a callback handler from handle_IRQ_event(), called from do_IRQ(), called from default_idle(). So my problem is that a structure involved in handling irqs gets mishandled by comedi and crashes a little while later.
