My LV like project is nearly all written in perl and is all command-line. It can run various custom test that the users can put together and record the data from various sources. The tests mainly involve sending commands out the serial port, then sleeping until the next command. In the meantime I am capturing data from various meters and using gnuplot to graph them. It also has an interface to configure various parameters on the product to tune it up. All data including configuration parameters is stored in a directory named after the serial number of the device it's talking to so we can easily go back at look at how each device was doing to see. I have never used or seen LV myself, but I'm told by a friend that my software is basically doing what LV is designed to do. I haven't actually seen an OSS program that does all I'm trying to do so maybe I'll just start my own project once I have enough free time. I am also developing a gui front-end to this using mozilla. My main reason for choosing that is so the front-end isn't tied to any one OS. My gui will be completely portable and talk to the back-end using SOAP. At the moment the gui isn't quite far enough along to be useful and I'm not completely sure this is the best approach, but so far it's worked out. > > I'm also contributing to that. Bluescreen leads to downtime. Downtime leads to suffering. NT is the path to the darkside. Powerful Unix is.
