NI PCI-MIO-16E-4 lock-up w/ comedi_config from Bob Apodaca on 2004-08-10 (gmane.linux.comedi)

I am getting a lock-up problem with the National Instruments 
PCI-MIO-16E-4 card.  This is what I do:

modprobe comedi
modprobe ni_pcimio
comedi_config -v /dev/comedi0 ni_pcimio

This is the output:
configuring driver=ni_pcimio 
0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,

then the system is locked-up.  I tried to mix things up a bit:

modprobe comedi
modprobe comedi_fc
modprobe 8255
modprobe mite
modprobe ni_pcimio
comedi_config -v /dev/comedi0 ni_pcimio

but same result.  Any suggestions for debugging this problem?
