Re: NI M-Series devices

There have been a couple of posts to this list about M Series register
level programming, so I'd like to provide some insight. We have been very
pleased with the interest in our new M Series Multifunction I/O products.
We are indeed currently working on register-level programming (RLP)
information and code examples for these devices through the Measurement
Hardware DDK. While we can't guarantee a release date, our internal target
for initial RLP information is the second quarter of 2005. While the new M
Series devices are an upgrade of the existing NI STC based E Series
devices, the register set is sufficiently different that they require
entirely new documentation and examples for the Measurement Hardware DDK.
Also, please be assured that the E Series device are not going to be
obsoleted any time soon. NI has a long history of supporting DAQ devices
for many years and the E Series devices are no different.

Thank you for your patience as we complete this development of M Series RLP
information, Measurement Hardware DDK examples, and NI-DAQmx Driver
software (our own Linux driver software). Please don't hesitate to contact
me if you have any additional questions or would like an update on our M
Series RLP schedule.

Best Regards,
