read data from the card after a command

Hi all,

Sorry for these very dumb questions about the comedi command, but

1. After I issue the 'acquire' command and I asked my board to acquire
e.g. 1 second of data, the a read(device, buffer, BUFSZ) after the
comedi command will get only the data acquired until the time read was
issued not the 1s right? so, any suggestions in how could I have the
comedi_cmd then read just after the data was acquired?

Other very dumb question,

2. If I declare buffer (see question 1) as char* buffer and my card has
a 16bit resolution, how do I get correct data? Or better, how to get the
2 byte-resolution from read?
