Re: NI M series support

Hi,

I just asked NI about the status of their register level documentation.
Apparently, they have their own Linux driver. Does anybody know about it
and how it fits into the comedi project?

Here is what I got as an answer:

Hi Jan,

Thank you for contacting National Instruments.

M Series devices are currently supported in Linux under the DAQmx Base 1.5
driver. If you can elaborate on the register level functionalities
required and if possible, the nature of the project (e.g. channel count and
features of board, and number required), I will escalate the inquiry to get
further information.

For your consideration, the following list shows the features supported by
the DAQmx Base driver:

M Series MIO (PCI/PXI only)
  *Analog Input
    -DMA
    -Digital start and reference triggering
    -Analog start and reference triggering
    -External clocking
    -Multi-channel, multi-sample read (scaled)
    -Multi-channel, multi-sample read (raw)
    -Multi-channel, single sample read (scaled)
  *Analog Output
    -External clocking
    -Multi-channel, multi-sample write (scaled)
    -Multi-channel, single-sample write (scaled)
  *Counter Input
    -Simple event counting
-Buffered event counting (continuous speed is limited by computer
speed;
reading a single large buffer will not cause an error)
    -Period measurement
    -Pulse width measurement
  *Counter Output
    -Single pulse
    -Continuous pulse train
    -Digital start triggering
  *Digital I/O
    -Port input
    -Line input
    -Port output
    -Line Output
    -Correlated DIO
