comedi-0.7.70 installation problem from walt on 2005-06-01 (gmane.linux.comedi)

Thanks to Panagiotis for responding to my previous note. I have now gotten the 
make and make install steps completed.

I have tried typing:

/sbin/modprobe das16.o

but modprobe looks only in /lib/modules

In that directory I have das16.ko but not das16.o. I understand that ".ko" 
refers to realtime & I do not have a realtime kernel.

I do have das16.o in a comedi directory. Can I safely copy all ".o" files into 
a /lib/modules directory before running modprobe?
