I am trying to configure an NI PCI-6503 DIO device for comedi. As far as I can
tell, everything goes fine until the comedi_config step, where I get this
message:
***************************************************************
jeongSuSE92:/home/walt/comedi/comedi-0.7.70
# /usr/local/sbin/comedi_config /dev/comedi0 ni_pcidio
Configure failed!: Input/output error
Check kernel log for more information
Possible reasons for failure:
Driver not found
**************************************************************
cat /var/log/messages gives:
**************************************************************
Jun 10 22:23:15 jeongSuSE92 -- MARK --
Jun 10 22:30:43 jeongSuSE92 kernel: comedi0: nidio:no device found
Jun 10 22:30:43 jeongSuSE92 kernel: Available NI device IDs: 0x0000
***************************************************************
which seems to say it is the device rather than the driver that is not found.
cat /proc/modules gives, in part:
***********************************
ni_pcidio 11904 0 - Live 0xe0c42000
mite 10628 1 ni_pcidio, Live 0xe0839000

comedi 31504 2 ni_pcidio,8255, Live 0xe0ca1000
******************************************
which I take to mean the driver module ni_pcidio has been found & loaded in
the kernel. Lsmod shows the module also:
***************************************************8
jeongSuSE92:/home/walt/comedi/comedi-0.7.70 # lsmod

From SuSE Yast Hardware Info I find only this National Instruments PCI device:

At this time there is only one NI device in this computer: the NI PCI-6503.
SuSE has found one PCI device (& also assigned IRQ 12 as mentioned elsewhere
in the Yast report), but I'm not sure whether this info it has found is
sufficient for comedi to configure it.
Does anyone have a suggestion?
Thanks,
Walt
