using the parallel port

As the RTAI tutorial sais, i've disabled the kernel's parallel port support,
in order to Comedi do the job.
When i get to the example of accessing the port, it uses outb and inb
functions, and sys/io.h header.
Do i have to configure Comedi to be able to use those functions? how?
