Hi,

Perhaps helpful is the following:
We used Dallas devices for temperature logging which can be hooked up to a
RS232 device. In our situation we used a RS232 to USB convertor to get the
information into an embedded linux board.
The Dallas devices are only suited for getting a rough idea of temperature
(housekeeping) not really accurate measurements, but you could at least use
the driver software as example. At sourceforge there is a 1-wire project
using these devices.
