For reasons I don't understand, I couldn't install a later version of flex. At this point, I decided that I needed to try a different version of Linux. Having already failed in using Debian, I installed Fedora Core 5. This version (along with CentOS when updated) failed because of a change in library contents. At that point I installed Fedora Core 4, and found virtually the same problems cited in the earlier e-mail. At this point I felt I had nothing to lose by going back to CentOS again, hence I'm pretty much back to the same point. It appears that I can do the install directly up to the point of the installation of the CVS version of comedilib. With the earlier failure in this step, I pulled down the tarball version of comedilib and attempted that installation. The subsequent "make" step is attached below: At this point it appears I could proceed further provided I had the contents of the missing "asm-generic/errno.h" file. I queried google, but could not find precisely what I needed. Could someone there provide me with this file? Harold Skank
