Do you mean in realtime or offline?
I'm teaching DSP in Glasgow. We record, for example ECGs and then
process them with MATLAB. I've written a small program comedirecord
which generates data files which you can load with the "load" command
into MATLAB, for example "load myecg.dat" creates the matrix myecg.
