For anyone who's interested, I'm starting to work on the counter support in 
ni_mio_common.c and the ni_660x.c driver.  I'm making their interfaces 
consistent with each other, and moving the guts of their counter support 
into a shared module ni_tio.  I will also be adding support for buffered 
counting commands.  This will involve changes to the counter interfaces of 
both drivers and a change to one subdevice per counter, instead of one 
channel per counter.
