It's available online for free: http://lwn.net/Kernel/LDD3/ The 3rd edition was written for 2.6.10, so the book is somewhat out of date, but most of the major subsystems haven't changed drastically. In any case, comedi has a nice compatibility layer that takes care of the relevant differences between various kernel versions. -Tabish
