Hello, I have got Advantech PCI 1751 card. Current Comedi driver (adv_pci_dio) does not use counters available onboard, neiter allow for command mode. I guess that it is easier to write a driver for COMEDI than to do it for system. Since I am new to writing drivers, I would ask some questions: 1. The PCI 1751 uses 8255 and 8254 chips. My thoughts are that I can combine existing parts of drivers that use these chips. Which drivers I should look into for 8254 chip implementation (8255 got its own driver)? 2. Which driver code can be used as a template, something very close to PCI1751 functionality (48 digital IO + 3 counters + some interrupts from few counters and few channels of DIO) - is should not be limited to insn interface unlike current PCI1751. 3. Are there helpful manuals regarding writing drviers, except official documentaion? Cheers, Askar --
