reading encoder pulses with NI 6036E

Hi,

I have the NI-6036E board (16 analog inputs, 8 DIO ) and I am using  
comedi-0.7.70 and comedilib-0.7.21.
I want to measure one channel of pulses from an encoder. Is it  
possible by using the DIO channels? If yes, how can I do it?
