I'm happy to report that comedi-0.7.73 and comedilib-0.7.22 tarballs compiled on Ubuntu 6.06 work fine using the wonderful test program: http://www.ajvar.org/~calin/ComediClientServer/ Simply following the instructions in the INSTALL files worked except I had to copy the /usr/local/lib/libcomedi.* files to /usr/lib to get the Comedi Server and Client to run. Also took me a while to figure out what my QTDIR was to build ComediClientServer since Ubuntu fails to set the QTDIR environment variable (it was: /usr/share/qt3). Now if someone can give me a clue about getting started with kcomedilib by pointing me to a simple sample/demo program I'd be grateful enough to download the CVS sources and try these on Ubuntu 6.06 with the Computer Boards PCI-DAS1602/16. I couldn't make heads or tails of the output from comedilib/testing/comedi_test, although it seemed to run OK but a series of 0x.... segfault... OK messages didn't exactly give me confidence. IMHO ComediClientServer should be made part of the distribution or at the very least prominently linked on comedi.org. --wally.
