USB DAQ's

Hi.
I notice there are a number of well priced ~$100 USB based DAQ's about
with linux drivers and programming examples, problem they don't
interface to comedi or comedi based applications (ktimetrace, xoscope, etc.)
I have never written a driver but modified an application making calls
to an IOtech driver, is it possible to write a driver for comedi that
makes calls to the vendors driver rather than direct hardware calls,
sort of translator?
