Herman, i found your mail in the comedi archive, i have also two of these cards, and want to use the x4 encoder with linux, did you made a driver for it with comedi? if none is availble, i would also like to make one, looks like the request on this card is gaining. Well but i'm just starting to dealing with device drivers so far, so for this i'm open for all recommendations what to study first, to have a strong basis.
