Hi Maosen - > Thank you very much for your help! welcome > Can you tell me from your experience: Can Comedi realize my application > in Redhatliux7.3? I'm not really sure what you want to do. Comedi works just fine on your standard, off-the-shelf, RedHat kernel (including RH7.3). You need RTLinux (or RTAILinux) if you want to read values in, do some math, and then write values out, faster than a couple hundred times a second, or with very precise temporal behavior. If you want to update your outputs < 100 times a second, you don't really need a real-time Linux. If you want to update your outputs > 1000 times a second, you definately need a real-time linux. If it's between 100 & 1000, you can do a bad job with a plain kernel, a great job with a real-time kernel. Hope this helps :( > Ja, thank you for your advising and I want to keep in contact with you. > I am a Phd student in Germany, who begin with Comedi in Linux with no > experience for my Robot's application. Well, good luck! I'll help you if I can. If you decide that you need a real-time Linux (RTLinux or RTAILinux), it's not that difficult to set up. You can start from your plain old RedHat 7.3, and in a couple of hours (or a couple of days if you're unlucky) have a working real-time computer. Just go to one of the websites, and follow the instructions. I'd be more than happy to give advice along the way... -Chuck
