This is like asking about the best flavor of ice cream.. people have their own preferences with little logic to justify it. Although perhaps some distributions are 'just better' than others... but I tend to think it is rather all a matter of personal taste. I like gentoo because the package system is easier to use and more flexible than RPM, and because it seems to come out with updated packages quicker. Some people swear by redhat. Personally in recent years I think it has become a bit too 'mainstream corporate' for my tastes. -Calin
