An update.... The kernel Oops were due to compiling with gcc-3.3 (debian testing default). Recompiling with gcc-2.95 did not give the Oops. At the moment the following combination works. Debian testing - updated today 20030904 Linux kernel 2.4.17 - no patches, gcc-2.95 comedi-0.7.65-cvs - from May 2002 comedilib-0.7.20-2 - from Debian testing This setup seems to require the use of timer mode. With out timer mode the system just sets there. This happens with the cmd demo program as well as my application. The comedi_config command is comedi_config --read-buffer 1024 pc104-das16jr/16 0x300,5,1,1,0,0,0,0,1 The system that does not work has a 2.4.20 kernel (gcc-3.2/3) and comedi-0.7.66-cvs (pulled down on 20030417). Every thing else is the same. Tomorrow I'll try the compiler change and see if it makes any differnce. John Conner > Amy, your answer was why I mentioned the oops.
