I actually bumped into this same problem. To install more than 4 cards from the comedi dist. you need to do two things: 1) Add extra lines in the makefile. Towards the end of the makefile, you will see the command to add comedi entries in the /dev folder. Off the top of my head, I think that it is something like "mknod /dev/comediN" where N is the card number. As a default, there are only four cards. 2) In comedi/include/linux/comedi.h, the maximum number of cards is defined by the COMEDI_NDEVICES. If you aren't using the cvs version (which seems to allow up to 16 cards) then you will have to change COMEDI_NDEVICES from 4 to 12. As a side note, I have been using comedi for about 6 months now. I started on a Red Hat system but making everything work was well, heroic to say the least. If ever decide to change distributions, try Debian (www.debian.org) or my personal favorite Gentoo (www.gentoo.org). Good luck.
