What leads you to this conclusion? I've had no problems using other
subdevices with my 1710.

What makes you know it is 'garbage'? Did it work before with another
version? It may just be a case of "garbage in, garbage out".

Unless you provide more information about your code (what you are doing),
error messages you are getting (what is happening) and/or information about
your garbage (what you are expecting) it's hard to say :-)
