I created a comedi-0.7.70 tarball and put it up on the web site a few days ago. It's probably a good time to tell people. I'm planning to implement a few major changes to Comedi in the near future, many of which may break binary compatibility. It was always my intention to stabilize 0.7 into a 0.8 series, but that never really happened. So think of the 0.7.70 release as being "0.8.0", since it represents 1) there are now two separate tracks, 0.8 (stable) and 0.9 (unstable), but 2) nothing has really changed. There will be additional 0.7.7x releases until 0.10.0 is released. Users are encouraged to use the 0.7 releases until that time. The number of drivers available in 0.9 will probably be very limited until stabilization starts for 0.10.0. Comedilib will also go through the same changes. In addition, I'm changing the scope of the Comedi project to reflect the developments over the last 5 years and the realities of current data acquisition. Comedi (the project) has previously focussed on drivers for plug-in data acquisition cards, e.g., ISA, PCI, PC-Card, and to a limited extent, USB. Comedi (the project) will now focus on data acquisition on Linux _in general_, whether the actual measurement hardware is connected via PCI, USB, ethernet, Profibus, or a Windows machine running LabView. In order to reflect this change, the 0.9 version of comedi (the package) will be called comedi-modules. The most significant changes will occur in Comedilib. dave...
