counter comedi program for 6229

Hi all
I'm a beginer in comedi programing, I want to make a
program that count some pulses, take this data to de
D/A and then sent the analog data to the analog input
in the card 6229.

I need to do this becouse I'm working with rtai and
rtai-lab and I need to do hardware in the loop, I have
some encoders into the loop and they use a range of
frequency of 10KHz to 125KHz but with RTAI the max
frecuence that I can use is 10KHz. The idea is to use
this program to let the analog data in the analog
input after count.

please some help... what functions do I have to use to
read the counter register, I'm using 

 comedi_data_read(device,subdev,chan,range,aref, &
data);

and the subdev is the subdev of the counter but I'm
not
sure if this is the way to read the counter, in analog
input/output it worked really fine
