I've been thinking about this for a while, and seeing discussion on documentation brought it to the foreground. It would be quite an achievement for comedi (and open source) to have the comedilib API approved as a POSIX standard. The work required is non-trivial, but nothing compared to the work of writing and testing the code. It might encourage board manufacturers to release comedi drivers with their products. There's an overview of the IEEE Standards process at http://standards.ieee.org/resources/development/index.html. Any opinions? Steve
