Dear Newbie :),

please add some information about ./configure,make, etc. output.

Next thing is that your kernel is rather old. Rtai-3.2 only offers a
patch for version number 2.4.27. Thus you need to get a clean kernel from
ftp.kernel.org. Latest version is rtai-3.3, but I had some trouble with
it. But you definitely can't call me a reliable source of knowledge, cause
I'm a newbie myself.

Good starting point is scilab-howto.pdf which comes with the rtai package.
just skip the stuff about graphics acceleration and
scilab/scicos/xrtailab, if you don't need it.

Have Fun*
